Property overview

Set in natural, wooded gardens above Ambleside, Little Barn is, as its name suggests, a cosy space but packed full of history. A traditional, detached, stone-built barn that dates back to the 17th century it was once used for livestock and, more recently, it housed a sailing boat in the lower barn area.

From the outside, take the external steps to open plan kitchen, dining and living area which has a fully equipped kitchen, dining space which seats four and a living room with wood burner. The bedroom space is small with a double bed and the upstairs bathroom features a slim and low shower cubicle.

On the lower ground floor is the main bedroom with a king sized bed and ensuite bathroom with a shower over a bath.

Outside there are two seating areas, one with a barbecue. These are complimented by a grandstand view from the living area balcony, the perfect spot for a morning cuppa or a glass of something chilled in the evening.

Local area information

Little Barn is located just 15 minutes walk from central Ambleside, yet it is surrounded by woodland and steep fellside, with only a couple of houses and a farmhouse for company, such is the geography of the Lake District!

There is a little balcony befitting of a very little barn, which allows for wonderful views across the valley and to further flung fell tops. A bridleway runs right past the front door and the whole area is criss-crossed with walks and trails.

Visitors can cruise the length of Lake Windermere to various destinations by boarding the historic lake steamers and launches from the jetty in Ambleside.
