Property overview

Step through the patio doors and enjoy stunning views of the Howgill Fells from the terrace, and on chilly evenings there’s a cosy wood burner to cuddle up in front of.

The property includes half an acre of securely fenced grounds so ideal for guests with dogs, and is only a short walk from the town itself.

This little gem of a cottage has two bedrooms, both with luxury ensuite shower rooms, and spacious open-plan living along with private parking for up to four cars and an EV charger using the Monta payment system.

Outside, Herdwick Barn’s inviting patio is perfect for alfresco meals, morning coffee or evening drinks and overlooks the garden and paddock with expansive views of the surrounding meadows and Howgill Fells.

Views are there to be enjoyed at night too: as a designated ‘dark sky’ area, the big, beautiful sky at Herdwick Barn puts on an unrivalled show of stars on a clear night.

The local area

Nestled between the Howgill Fells that border the Eastern Lakes and the Western Dales, Sedbergh is nothing short of a hidden gem. The rolling fells may not have the rugged appeal of the Lakeland crags, but don’t be fooled as there’s some serious hiking to be found here!

England’s Book Town, Sedbergh has a wealth of independent retailers (yes, including many book shops!), cafés and welcoming traditional pubs, perfect after an energetic day in the fresh air.

You’re not far from the South Lakes and a short drive to Kendal, Kirkby Lonsdale, Windermere and Ambleside, yet far enough away for a stay in Sedbergh to be that real escape you’ve been looking for.
